La huitième épreuve du championnat du Monde, organisée à Teutschenthal (Allemagne) a réservé quelques bons moments au team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki. Michael Leib et Dylan Ferrandis, ses deux représentants après les blessures de Gregory Aranda et Nicolas Aubin, ont tous deux réussi du top dix au terme de courses encourageantes.

Arrivé en Allemagne confiant après sa prestation d’Ernée, Michael a réellement débuté sa saison ce week-end et récompensé du même coup, avec une dixième place en seconde manche, le team des efforts faits depuis son arrivée en Europe et sa blessure. Pas vraiment habitué à rouler dans de telles ornières, le jeune Californien a souffert en première manche compte tenu de l’évolution rapide de la piste mais s’est bien repris dans la seconde. Avec de nouveaux réglages plus efficaces il a été en mesure de se battre contre des valeurs sures de la catégorie, accrochant une belle dixième place dans la seconde manche et marquant ses premiers points au championnat.

Venu en spectateur avec le pied gauche dans le plâtre, Nicolas Aubin espère bien être au départ du prochain GP en Lettonie le week-end prochain, alors que Dylan Ferrandis débutera lui sa saison de Supercross. En Allemagne Dylan a réussi sa meilleure performance des quatre premiers rounds de l’Europe 125, se qualifiant en troisième position avant de terminer les deux manches au septième rang. Comme à St Jean les pilotes ont roulé dans des conditions très différentes, à savoir une piste glissante suite au copieux arrosage nocturne pour la première manche disputée tôt le matin, puis une piste piégeuse avec de nombreuses ornières pour la seconde manche disputée en fin de journée après les courses MX1, MX2 et féminines !

Michael Leib: « Je suis heureux d’avoir pu offrir un bon résultat au team Bud racing et à Kawasaki, qui m’ont apporté beaucoup de soutien depuis que je me suis blessé. Jamais aux USA je n’avais roulé sur un circuit avec de telles ornières, et on a eu un peu de mal avec les réglages en première manche ; mais le team a super bien réagit et je me suis fait plaisir en seconde manche, revenant de la treizième à la dixième place. Notre saison a vraiment commencé aujourd’hui, et je suis très excité avant les prochains GP. »

Stephane Dassé: “Ce fut dans l’ensemble un bon week-end pour nous, surtout après ce que nous avons enduré ces derniers temps! Nos deux pilotes ont livré une belle seconde manche, Michael en se battant avec des pilotes comme Roelants, Herlings ou Simpson, puis en résistant à Paulin. Il découvre à chaque fois de nouveaux circuits et de nouvelles conditions de course, il n’est pas habitué à voir une piste autant évoluer pendant le week-end ! Dylan a fait deux bonnes manches, dans la seconde il s’accroche avec Tixier alors qu’il est troisième mais il se classe deux fois septième. Les gens oublient parfois qu’il était encore en 85cc l’an passé, on va maintenant s’attaquer avec lui au SX Tour dès le week-end prochain. »

Top ten results for Leib and Ferrandis

The eighth round of the World Championship, held in Teutschenthal (Germany) offered some good moments for team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki, who was pleased to see strong racing from Michael Leib and Dylan Ferrandis, the two representatives due to the injuries of Gregory Aranda and Nicolas Aubin.

After his strong performance during the last round of the French Championship in Ernée, Michael came confident in Germany where he discovered another track. After a difficult and frustrating time with injuries Michael was finally able to repay the faith shown in him by the team with a stirring tenth place in race two. Not used to such rugged tracks during his previous career, the 18 year old Californian forced his way from an initial 29^th position to the verge of the points-paying positions in race one before it became evident that changing track conditions were not compatible with his set-up. The team made appropriate changes for race two and the youngster repaid their endeavour with an excellent ride from an initial 13^th position to finish 10^th for his maiden world championship score. Nicolas Aubin of Kawasaki Bud Racing was in Germany as a spectator after breaking a bone in the left foot at the French championship round last week; he expects a speedy recovery and may even be able to rejoin the world series in Latvia next weekend.

Involved in the fourth round of the 125 European series, Dylan Ferrandis did his best performance so far. Qualified in third position the former 85cc champion got pretty good starts, and secured twice the seventh place on a rough track. Race one early in the morning took place on a slippery layout due to the overnight watering, while race two ended the long program of racing with deep ruts after the MX1, MX2 and women races!

Michael Leib: “It’s great to finally be able to repay the Bud Racing team and Kawasaki for their support and the faith they have shown in me whilst I have been injured. Coming from the US I never raced in such deep ruts as this before and we were struggling for set-up in the first race, but the team are doing an awesome job with the bike and the changes they made for race two were great. I don’t think the people back home realise just how fast the racing is in the world championship, and I was able to move forward into the top ten from 13th on lap one to score my first points. Our season started today and I’m really excited now for the rest of the year.”

Stephane Dassé: “It was a good weekend for us, and we were pleased with the second heat of Michael who battled with some strong riders in the class such as Roelants, Herlings, Simpson or Paulin. He discovers new layouts, and is not used to see the track changing so much through the weekend! Dylan did strong races, he was third in the second one when he collided with Tixier; but he shows what he can do on a 125, sometimes people forget that last year he was on a 85cc. He will start the Supercross season next week, with the opening round of the SX Tour series.”
