Le team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki a enfin vécu un bon weekend en Suède, ou ses trois pilotes se sont tous battus aux avant postes en MX1, MX2 et junior. Michael Leib a obtenu avec une neuvième place finale son meilleur résultat en GP, tandis que pour son retour Nicolas Aubin a une fois encore prouvé son potentiel en 450 ; Troisième des chronos et septième de l’épreuve 125, Dylan Ferrandis a de son côté sa progression pour sa premièer année en 125.

Tout d'abord Honneur à Pierrick Roncin, le pilote support du team Rockstar-Bud racing-Kawasaki qui a remporté ce week-end son premier titre national avec le titre de champion de France national MX1. Arrivé à Champ de Duc (55) avec 2 points de retard sur le leader et 2 points d'avance sur le 3è, Pierrick s'offre le titre grâce à une régularité irréprochable n'ayant jamais quitté le podium de l'année.

Michael Leib a donc franchi un pas important à Uddevalla, confirmant qu’il se sentait de mieux en mieux sur les pistes Européennes au guidon de sa 250 KXF. Mal parti en première manche il ne baissa jamais les bras pour remonter de la 18^ème à la 13^ème place, et ce bien qu’il ait du jeter ses lunettes maculées de boue dès le second tour. Un bien meilleur départ en seconde manche lui rendra la vie plus facile et lui permettra de montrer son réel potentiel ; d’entrée de jeu dans le top dix, il va alors se bagarrer avec quelques piliers de la catégorie pour se classer septième, son meilleur résultat depuis son arrivée chez les professionnels. Neuvième du Grand Prix il atteint un de ses objectifs en terminant ses deux manches dans les points, et va maintenant aborder les prochaines épreuves encore plus en confiance.

Nicolas Aubin a fait un retour surprise, trois semaines après sa fracture du pied. Ayant reçu vendredi le feu vert de ses médecins Nico est arrivé en Suède à court d’entrainement, puisqu’il n’a quitté ses béquilles que mercredi. Très rapide dès la première séance d’essai ou il se classait deuxième, il se classait dixième de la course qualificative, sachant que les courses de dimanche allaient être difficiles. Mal parti en première manche il se battait avec Coppins pour la 16^ème place quand il posait le pied à terre et ressentait une violente douleur. Contraint à l’abandon il repartait en seconde manche, signant un superbe départ en quatrième position ; dans le groupe de tête durant les deux tiers de la course il perdait logiquement quelques places en fin de course, se classant 13^ème heureux d’être de retour en piste.

Michael Leib: “Depuis que je suis en Europe j’ai marqué des points dans toutes les manches que j’ai terminé, et en venant ici mon but était de terminer enfin deux manches dans les points. J’ai du jeter rapidement mes lunettes en première manche, ce qui m’a compliqué la tâche compte tenu des projections de boue ; je suis revenu de la 18^ème à la 13^ème place, et j’étais confiant pour la seconde manche. J’ai enfin réussi un excellent départ, je roulais un peu crispé au début mais je me suis libéré et j’ai pris beaucoup de plaisir dans cette manche que je termine 7^ème. Quelle différence quand on part dans le groupe de tête ! Je suis vraiment impatient d’être à la prochaine course, mon mécanicien Jeremy et tout le team abat un travail fantastique et grâce à eux j’ai pu montrer aujourd’hui que notre 250 marche fort. »

Nicolas Aubin: “J’ai passé la semaine près de Marseille chez le professeur Delestré, et après d’ultimes examens vendredi il m’a donné son feu vert si bien que j’ai sauté dans un avion pour arriver tard à Uddevalla. A la première séance d’essais j’ai pris beaucoup de plaisir, quand tu restes trois semaines sans faire de moto c’est le bonheur absolu de reprendre la piste ! Je savais que physiquement ce serait dur puisque je n’ai rien pu faire pendant trois semaines, mais j’avais trop envie de rouler. En première manche je ne suis pas très bien parti, je me battais avec Coppins quand j’ai eu le malheur de poser le pied à terre pour rattraper une petite glissade. Immédiatement j’ai ressenti une terrible douleur, comme si je m’étais à nouveau cassé le pied ! Cela a duré une bonne heure avant que cette douleur s’estompe, et en seconde manche j’ai réussi un super départ en quatrième position. Je savais qu’il serait impossible de tenir cette place mais je me suis battu, restant très longtemps dans le top dix avant de souffrir dans les dix dernières minutes. Je ne peux pas dire que je suis satisfait du résultat brut, mais je suis content de mon week-end car j’ai pu me faire plaisir, retrouver du rythme et cela ne peut que m’être profitable pour les prochaines courses, à commencer par l’Elite à Iffendic le week-end prochain. »

Jacky Vimond: “Ce fut un assez bon week-end pour nous, nous avions le plaisir d’avoir trois pilotes sous l’auvent et cela fait du bien ! Pour son retour après trois semaines d’arrêt Nicolas a bien roulé, et même si le résultat final n’est pas exceptionnel il a montré qu’il n’avait rien perdu de sa vitesse ni de sa combativité en seconde manche. Michael a de son côté trouve son rythme dans le pack MX2 ; sa première manche fut sommes toutes classique avec un mauvais départ suivi d’une remontée régulière dans le top quinze, mais sa seconde manche a montré sa vraie valeur grâce à un bon départ. Il est parti dans le top dix et a pu montrer son aisance sur la moto, on le voyait se faire plaisir et je suis sûr que cette septième place va l’aider à passer un cap lors des prochaines courses. En junior Dylan s’est bien battu dans les deux manches, le circuit était très exigeant avec la boue en première manche, et défoncé en fin de journée ; il a souffert en première manche avec deux chutes, mais il s’est bien accroché jusqu’au dernier tour de la seconde manche et cela fait plaisir. »

Best ever GP for Michael Leib & French tittle for Pierrick Roncin

Team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki had a good weekend in Sweden, where its three riders all battled in front of the MX1, MX2 and 125 junior series while Pierrick Roncin was racing the last round of the French amateur National MX1 championship by winning his first national level tittle with Rockstar-Bud racing-Kawasaki team. Michael Leib got his best ever result with a ninth place in the GP, thanks to a solid seventh spot in race two, while Nicolas Aubin did his come back and proved his ability on a 450; junior team member Dylan Ferrandis was very fast with 3rd place during saturday laptimes and with 7th place on sunday with a very ruff track for his small size.

Firstly, we are happy to announce the French amateur MX1 title for Rockstar-Bud racing-Kawasaki support rider Pierrick Roncin, after a strong season, he arrives in Champ le Duc (north east of france) the last race of the championship with 2 points back from the leader and 2 points advance from 3rd place rider ! Pierrick was strong all day along with a very good mental and finally reach his first ever national tittle. Congratulations.

In Sweden, American Michael Leib got his best ever GP result aboard his KX250F as he continues to feel more at home on the European tracks. He showed great conviction to advance from an initial 18^th to finish 13^th in the opening moto even though he had been forced to discard his goggles early in the race. Then he got a great start in moto two, and things were much easier as he was straight in the top ten; he shows what is his real potential as battled with some of the strongest riders of the class, and did the best race of his professional career to date as he stormed up the leader board from ninth to seventh with good battle & passes with the top guys of the class. The serious training with Rockstar-Bud racing-Kawasaki's team trainer Jacky Vimond is helping Michael a lot for his first year venue to pro class and he will gain some extra confidence for the third part of the GP season.

Nicolas Aubin made a surprise comeback from injury after being given the all-clear by his doctor only on Friday. Unable to train for several weeks, Nicolas immediately showed great speed on Saturday with second fastest laptime on the MX1 practice session, but rider and team both knew that the races on Sunday would be more difficult. After an uncharacteristically poor start in the first race Nicolas put his foot down whilst battling and had to pull off the track in terrible pain. After an hour’s rest he felt able to take to the track again in race two, where he did a great start in fourth position; being in the top positions during most of the race he finished a brave 13^th, tired but happy to be back racing.

Michael Leib: “So far since I came to Europe I have scored points in every race that I finished so my goal here was to finish top ten in both races. I had to take off my goggles already on the second lap of the first moto, which made it hard work with all this mud flying but I still managed to move forward from 18^th to 13^thand that gave me confidence for the second race and I finally got a great start, the first one so far this season. I was riding really tight during the first few laps but finally got comfortable and I enjoyed that race a lot, making some great passes to finish the race 7^th. It makes such a difference when you have a good start and with fighting with the top guys of the class, I feel more confident. I can’t wait for my next race at the Rockstar Elite French championship round next week. My mechanic Jeremy and the whole team are working so hard, and during the second race I could show how good our Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki is.”

Nicolas Aubin: “I spent the entire week near Marseille with Professor Delestre, and after the last consultation on Friday he told me that I could get back on a bike so I took a flight and arrived late in Uddevalla. The first practice session felt great; it was so good to be back on a bike ! For sure my physical condition was not the best; I didn’t do any training for three weeks and I was still walking with crutches until Wednesday so I knew it would be difficult in the races. I also didn’t start so well in the first race, then I was racing with Coppins I put my foot on the ground; the pain was so bad that I was afraid it was broken again. I had to return to the pits but I felt better one hour later, and I had a great start in the second race in fourth position; it was impossible to keep this place, but I’m happy with my comeback. It was the first step and next week I will race the penultimate round of the Elite French series.”

Jacky Vimond: “It has been a good weekend for us, we were happy to have three of our riders with us! For his comeback after a three weeks break due to his foot injury Nicolas was strong, and even if the final result is not a top one it was good to see him always fast on the bike, and battling in the top places during the second race. Michael finally found his rhythm in the MX2 pack; his first race was ‘classic’ with a bad start and then a strong come back, but then with a good start he deserved a strong race to finish seventh. He feels easy on the bike, and for sure this good result will help him to do even better in the future and come confident to the next races.”
