Vainqueur des trois manches de l’épreuve d’ouverture du championnat de France Elite, Gregory Aranda a confirmé à Sommières ses ambitions pour sa seconde saison en 450. Son équipier Nicolas Aubin a connu moins de réussite mais a prouvé une bonne vitesse de pointe, alors que Dylan Ferrandis a lui marqué son premier point en Elite.
C’est dans des conditions glaciales que s’est ouvert dans le Gard le championnat, un froid polaire laissant place en fin de journée à des flocons de neige plutôt inattendus à cette période de l’année ! Facile vainqueur samedi sous le soleil de la qualification MX1 , Gregory a fait un joli carton plein en remportant les trois manches du jour sur l’un de ses circuits favoris. Parti à trois reprises dans le trio de tête, Greg s’est rapidement porté au commandement des courses et a repoussé les attaques de Xavier Boog et Anthony Boissière qui lui ont mis à tour de rôle la pression. Talonné par Boissière en première manche puis Boog en seconde, il a mis un point d’honneur à distancer plus nettement ses adversaires lors de l’ultime course du jour.
Auteur du meilleur chrono absolu samedi, et dauphin de Steven Frossard dans la qualification MX2 dont il fut le premier leader, Nicolas Aubin a connu moins de réussite avec ses départs dimanche. Il termine 5e scratch (2e 250cc) en premiere manche aprés un mauvais départ (17e), Nico allait dans le second débat perdre ses chances en recevant une pierre dans le bas ventre. Obligé de s’arrêter pour reprendre son souffle et hors des points à l’arrivée de cette seconde manche, il terminait sa journée par une nouvelle remontée en 3eme manche en terminant 6e scratch (3e 250c).
Roulant en 250 pour sa première sortie en Elite, quelques mois seulement après avoir rangé son 85, Dylan Ferrandis s’est accroché face a ses ainés et repart de Sommières avec son premier point au compteur.
Gregory Aranda : « Avec trois bons départs et trois belles manches, ce fut un bon weekend. En première manche Anthony roulait fort, il me mettait la pression avant de faire une petite faute, mais en fin de course il est encore une fois revenu dans ma roue. Dans la seconde c’est Xavier qui a été incisif, et jusqu’au bout il est resté dangereux. En dernière manche j’étais bien concentré, je ne me suis pas occupé des autres et j’ai creusé un écart. Je voudrais remercier le team, ils m’ont fait une bonne moto, ils sont vraiment motivés et j’ai vraiment envie de faire quelques coups d’éclat en GP maintenant que j’ai une bonne condition physique. »
Nicolas Aubin : « Ce fut une bonne journée, je trouve que j’ai bien roulé même si les résultats ne sont pas aussi bons que je l’aurais voulu. Samedi pour la qualification MX2 on s’est bien battu avec Steven, même si j’ai rendu la main avec un petit mal aux bras. Je suis très mal parti en première manche, je suis bien revenu de la 17ème à la 5ème place, mais dans la seconde je me suis pris une pierre dans le bas ventre et cela m’a contraint à m’arrêter pour récupérer. En troisième manche je n’ai pas pris de risques en début de manche car la piste était piégeuse, puis j’ai haussé de rythme et je suis revenu sur Herlings, Boissière et Frossard. »
Stephane Dassé : « Greg a été très consistant, même quand Anthony lui a mis la pression en première manche il a très bien tenu sa place et le bilan est parfait. De son côté Nico a fait d’excellents chronos, il a eu un peu de mal à rouler en paquet avec des départs moyens mais d’ici les GP cela va changer. Enfin Dylan s’est bien qualifié samedi, dimanche ce fut un peu plus dur au milieu des 450 mais il a marqué son premier point et le bilan est donc excellent. »
Aranda leads the French series
Winner of the three heats during the opening round of the French Elite Championship, Gregory Aranda confirmed in Sommières his huge progression for his second year on a 450. Teammate Nicolas Aubin wasn’t so successful but confirmed his speed, while Dylan Ferrandis scored his first point.
The southern track was sunny on Saturday but cold on Sunday, due to a strong wind and later some snow showers! Winner of the MX1 qualifying race Gregory did a ‘hat trick” on Sunday, winning the three races on one of his favorite layout. He grabbed a holeshot and two strong starts in the following heats, and led all the races after a few laps. But he had some strong opponents, with Xavier Boog and Anthony Boissière who both pushed hard during the first two races. In the last one Greg made a gap with his rivals and claimed a strong win ; he will arrives next week in Pernes les Fontaine as ‘the man to beat’ with new opponents as Sébastien Pourcel, Marvin Musquin and Michael Pichon will enter this event.
Fastest rider during the timed practice period and runner up in the qualifying race behind Frossard, Nicolas Aubin struggled with his start on Sunday. Coming back from 17th to 5th during the first heat, he will have to stop for a few laps in the following race when he received a stone in his stomach; he ended his weekend with another come back in the last heat, and is currently ninth in the standings. For his first “Elite” appearance Dylan Ferrandis was on a 250 only a few months after his last 85cc races and he scored in Sommières his first point in the series.
Gregory Aranda: “I had some strong starts today, and with three heat wins that’s a good weekend. Anthony during the first race and Xavier in the second one put me some pressure, I was glad to beat them twice and then to dominate the last heat. I was more focused and didn’t take care of my rivals; I just wanted to make a big gap. I want to thanks the team, they prepared a great bike and I feel how strong their motivation is. Now I’ve a good fitness and want to get some great results in the GP’s, I know that I can do it.”
Nicolas Aubin: “It was a good day, I was pleased with my riding event if the results are not what I was expecting. On Saturday I battled with Frossard for the qualifying win, but I had some arms pumped and let him go. My first start was not good at all, I came back from 17th to 5th and in the following race I tool a stone in my stomach and had to stop for a few minutes. I rode safe in the last one when it was snowing, then increase my rhythm and came back with Herlings, Boissière and Frossard.”
Stephane Dassé: “Greg was consistent, even when Anthony put some pressure during the first race, and that’s important for the future. Nicolas posted fast laps all weekend long, then it was more difficult during the races due to average start but I’m sure that it will be OK for the GP’s. For Dylan it was OK on Saturday for the MX2 qualifying race, then on Sunday among the 450 it was more difficult but he scored his first point and for the team it’s a good weekend.”
