Valentin Teillet shines in the night

The first ever Motocross Grand Prix organised in the Middle East offered to Valentin Teillet his first ever qualifying race win, and even if the races were not as successful team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki proved that they will be one the teams to watch carefully in the MX2 World Championship.

Valentin Teillet had recorded a sensational runaway victory in the Qualification race, as he led the entire period to be the first rider to win in the night of Losail, as the race was run under the sports at the famous International Racing track near Doha. Unfortunately the Frenchman had terrible luck on race day! Holding a challenging fourth place in the MX2 race, he was forced to pit for repairs after a rock had damaged his bike, and on his return to the track crashed heavily and was forced to retire. After transferring to the Superfinal – a combined race for MX1 and MX2 contenders – through the Last Chance he did not have a good choice of gate and inevitably suffered a poor start against the larger 450cc machines. He was rewarded with 12th in class for his persistence.

Teammate Dylan Ferrandis, keen not to miss the GP opener even though he had only been back in training for three weeks, soon settled down to a good pace, but he too was out of luck as an early crash in the MX2 moto sent him to the Last Chance alongside Teillet and the teenager just failed to make the transfer to the Superfinal.

Top lady racer Livia Lancelot was invited to contest the MX2 GP in Qatar, but, despite a remarkable performance, she failed to meet the 108% qualification hurdle against the men by just 1.667 seconds. She was rewarded for her efforts with an invitation to contest the second moto of the Qatar national championship event which supported the GP and finished a highly creditable third amongst the men.

Valentin Teillet: “It was a great surprise for me to win the qualifying race, but it gave me more confidence for the GP races. I was fourth in the MX2 race when I had a small problem, which forced me to go into the pits, and when I got back in the race I crashed and had to retire, so I had to go through the Last Chance race to qualify for the Superfinal. That made it a long day. I didn’t have so much time to recover before the last race and I had a very bad position on the grid so I got a bad start, which made life difficult against the 450 on this track.”

Dylan Ferrandis: “This was my first race for six months, and I only started practising again three weeks ago. I was still getting used to my bike this weekend, and during the practice sessions I was not so confident with my knee as the doctors didn’t want me to ride so early. Unfortunately I crashed in the first lap of the MX2 race, and had to go to the Last Chance race. I just missed qualification for the Superfinal, but I was pleased to see that I wasn’t tired after the races.”

Livia Lancelot: “I knew that it would be difficult to qualify, but I’m not disappointed about my experience in Qatar. The track was spectacular with big jumps and I did my best to finish twelve seconds from the pole position and less than two seconds from the qualifying time. I was happy with my riding, but this is the World Championship! I raced the second moto of the Qatar national championship on Saturday, and finished third so it was a nice experience. I’d like to thanks Youthstream the promoter of the series and the Qatar Federation who invite me, they gave me a great support.”

Team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki ready for 2013

Since its first appearance in the paddock in 2007, team Bud Racing has been one of the most consistent structures in the French and World Motocross Championships. Claiming four titles this season, the team is pleased to confirm that they will have a consistent program next season, with a strong support from Kawasaki and Rockstar Energy Drink.

Starting their adventure in the European Championship in 2007, the team created by the Dassé brothers joined the World Championship one year later and never stopped his progress. Winning its first Grand’s Prix in 2009 with Gautier Paulin, and coming back on the highest step of the rostrum this summer with Livia Lancelot in the Women’s class (winner of the French, British and German GP’s), the team also returned on the MX2 podium with Dylan Ferrandis (third in Sweden) and scored many ‘top five’ with Dylan and Valentin Teillet. With three French titles (Livia in the Women class, Valentin in the Elite MX2 and David Herbreteau in the 85 class) and one European Supercross crown (Valentin in the SX2 class) team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki did a very strong 2012 campaign and is optimistic for the future with three young and talented riders.

For the fourth year in a row Kawasaki Europe and Rockstar have both confirmed their support to Bud Racing, who is already preparing next season in the best conditions as they will line-up the same riders: Dylan Ferrandis and Valentin Teillet. Entering the MX2 French and World Championships the team will have a strong program, including eighteen GP’s with four of them oversea (Qatar, Thailand, Brazil and Mexico) and six round in the French Elite. With two young riders who already showed a great potential but had to face some injuries, team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki can expect some strong results in the MX2 class as well as in the Women class. Livia Lancelot will enter her third season with the team, and plan to race selected GP’s, the French Women series, the X Games and some beach races.

Stephane Dassé: « Next season will be a very important one for us as for the other teams, with so many races including some long and expensive trips to discover new countries. Thanks to Kawasaki, Rockstar Energy Drink and our partners, we will be able to enter again the MX2 World series where our goal will be to get some strong results as both Dylan and Valentin have the potential to score top five results regularly. We know each other’s very well with our experience of this season, and that will help us to prepare the future in the best conditions. The season will kick off very early, and the program will be tough with the World and French series for Valentin and Dylan. Livia will race selected events as she did this year, and will add some beach races such as Hossegor and Le Touquet who are two popular events with a strong media coverage.”

Four heat wins for Valentin at the Paris Bercy SX

The Supercross of Paris Bercy is since nearly thirty years the European Motorcycle event of wintertime, and this year again it was a huge success. Team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki was part of this success, as Valentin Teillet won four of the six 250 races in the French capital.

Bercy will always be for the fans a special event, and for his 30th birthday the French event confirmed to be the greatest one in Europe as the stadium was fully booked during three nights! The team came in Paris with his Grand Prix structure, to bring the bikes of Valentin Teillet and American Kyle Chisholm, but also to met the partners and fans. Valentin was the only usual team racer involved in the event, but teammates Dylan Ferrandis, David Herbreteau and Livia Lancelot were there to support him.

Back to Supercross after a long absence, Valentin came well prepared for Bercy after winning the Marseille and Genoa events in the previous weeks. Fastest rider on Friday in the timed practice period and then winner of the first heat, Valentin missed a good start in the second heat and collided after a few laps with another rider. As he couldn’t restart his engine he didn’t finished the race, and lost most of his chances for the overall win. Saturday was much better with a fourth place and another heat win, and Sunday was his best day with two heat wins. Second overall in the SX 250 classification, two weeks after catching the European title, Valentin did a strong comeback in Supercross this winter!

The 450 class was dominated by the american squad with Jake Weimer, Eli Tomac and Justin brayton taking the 3 spots of the podium.

Valentin Teillet: « I was a little bit stressed when I came here, as I didn’t ride Supercross since several years and this race in Bercy is a very important one. I love Supercross, but as my main goal is the Motocross World Championship I didn’t raced so much SX in the past. We worked hard to prepare this comeback with Jacky Vimond, and tonight we can be proud of the result. I lost all my chances for the overall win on Friday, but I was able to recover and I couldn’t expect more than a double win on Sunday. I had a lot of fun on the track, I felt stronger every day and it would have been great to have a fourth night of racing! It was cool to get so much support for the crowd during the event, especially on Saturday as many fans from my native Vendee came in Paris, I want to thanks all of them and of course my team.”

Stephane Dassé: « Once more we had a great weekend in Paris, on the track and in the paddock as well. Valentin did a couple of mistakes during the first two nights, but he was able to win one race each night and then had a perfect Sunday. There was a huge crowd, a great atmosphere and we met many people in the team’s awning, partners and fans who are supporting us. It was cool, we saw a lot of young kids who could be the next generation of riders and that’s great for the future.”

Valentin Teillet Supercross 250 European champion

Already French Motocross Elite champion this season, Valentin Teillet claimed another title this weekend as he won the European Supercross 250 Championship. Even if this series was not one of his goals, the Bud rider confirmed his ability in Supercross.

Four titles! After the French Motocross titles of Livia Lancelot (women), David Herbreteau (85cc) and Valentin Teillet (Elite 250), team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki claimed a European title this weekend in Genoa (Italy). Winner two weeks ago in Marseille (France), Valentin Teillet was again the strongest SX2 rider in Genoa; fastest in qualification and winner of his qualifying race, Valentin led the entire race and won his third consecutive main event. As he can’t be joined by any of his rivals during the last round of the series, scheduled in Milano (Italy) in two weeks, Valentin was crowned in front of 9000 fans. Next weekend and during three nights (from Friday to Sunday), he will be in Paris, to race the famous Supercross of Paris Bercy aboard his 250 Kawasaki.

Valentin Teillet: “The track in Genoa was great, with a strong whoops section where it was possible to make the difference; I did a good timed practice session, and I was happy to be again the fastest rider in the SX2 class, but also to post the third lap time among the 450 riders! In my heat race I had a small crash in the second corner; the track was slippery, but I came back first and won the race. Then in the main event I got the holeshot and lead the entire race, and I finished with an eighteen seconds lead. I had a lot of fun riding Supercross, and it’s good mentally to get great results and this European title; it was not in our plans to race the series, but when I started training on the team’s Supercross track I had a good feeling and with the team we decided to enter the series. I’m happy to go to Bercy next weekend, it will be the first time in my career that I will go there really ready; I hope to get some good results there.”
