Dylan Ferrandis in the top four!

Team Rockstar energy Bud Racing Kawasaki travelled to Guadajara this weekend for the first ever Grand Prix of Mexico, round four of the World Championship. It was a mixed day for the team who was pleased with a fourth position in race one for Dylan Ferrandis, but was sad when Valentin Teillet crashed hard in this heat while he was fighting with the leaders.

Despite the hot temperatures reigning on the hillside track at an altitude of nearly 1700m, the racing conditions were pretty good on Sunday after intensive work from the promoters to control the dust. On this rough track Valentin Teillet made a sensational return to GP action in race one, as he maintained pressure on the leading duo for half of the first race; fourth at mid period, he crashed later in the waves section and had to go for a check-up on a painful wrist. GP rookie Dylan Ferrandis then took up the challenge, and in a sensational final lap stormed from sixth to fourth for his best GP result to date. He had high expectations of yet another top finish in race two, but a crash at the first corner and another one lap later when a local rider lost control and jumped into him forced his early retirement.

In the same time, the young David Herbreteau was winning the 85cc european championship round in Slovenie aboard his 85 KX.

Dylan Ferrandis: “I didn’t make a good start in the first race but I kept pushing, and on the last lap I was able to pass Tixier and Roelants to finish fourth.  I was delighted with that result and was optimistic for the second race. I got a great start this time, but in the first corner I slid out and crashed at the first corner; I damaged the throttle so I had to stop at the pits for repairs, and then a Mexican backmarker threw his bike at me and my race was over.”

Valentin Teillet: “I’m frustrated with this injury, and the worst thing is for sure that I was not at all riding over the limits. I had a good start in race one, and was riding safe as the track was dangerous in some places. When Searle passed me I didn’t tried to follow him and focused on my fourth position, but in the waves sections I don’t remember what happened when I crashed. I went to the hospital for exams and they didn’t detect any failure, but my left wrist is painful.”

Jacky Vimond: “Another strange weekend for us, as we laugh some time and cry later. The riders were fast on Saturday, and both prepared very well this GP. We arrived on Tuesday in Mexico, so everyone was used to the weather and in the first race both had a good start. Valentin was following the top three riders when he crashed in a tough section, let’s hope that his injury is not too serious. Dylan rode strong, he was not in the top ten but came back fourth after passing two riders in the last lap! It will give him even more confidence for the next GP’s, and we’re happy for him.”

Valentin win and lead the French elite MX2 series !

Two weeks after his big crash during the GP of Bulgaria, Valentin Teillet shines in Plomion during the penultimate round of the French Elite series. Winner in the MX2 class, the Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki rider is again leading the series, and will go to the final round in three weeks with a minor advantage – one single point! – over his closest rival. Second of the MX2 race, Dylan Ferrandis was unlucky in the last heat just before moving to South America for the next rounds of the World Championship.

Racing on a chalky track is never easy, but if you had some rain it’s even worst! Always suffering from an hematoma in his lower back, Valentin had not an easy opening moto; he was in third position behind Maxime Desprey, his main rival for the title, when Maxime crashed and took with him Valentin. Losing time to restart, and then having troubles to get a good rhythm, Valentin came back third behind his teammate Dylan Ferrandis, two ranks ahead of Desprey. A good start in the super final was a great support for Valentin, who scored a fifth position 250/450 mixed far ahead the other MX2 riders; with this result he is now leading again the series, with a minor advantage of 1 point.

Dylan did a strong performance in the MX2 race, as he missed the victory by a single second after an early crash and some troubles with his vision. He was unfortunate in the super final, as he got twice a stone in his brake pedal and was forced to stop twice in the pits; he will retire after the second incident.

On Tuesday riders, mechanics and manager will fly to Mexico and later San Paolo  Brasil for the next two rounds of the World Championships. Then they will be back in France for the final round of the French series and the French Grand Prix, so nobody will have time to rest in May!

Valentin Teillet:I was disappointed after the first heat, as I lost so much time when I crashed on Desprey’s bike; I was just behind him when he crashed, it was impossible to avoid him. I lost time to restart, and then I was not so happy with my riding. It was better in the super final, and to finish fifth among the 450 is a good result as the track was slippery. I didn’t train during the previous week as I spent most of my time with my doctor. But the most important this weekend was to take points in the series and to keep all chances for the title.”

Dylan Ferrandis: “I’m frustrated as I finish only one race, after my good result in the first heat I was expecting more in the super final. The first part on the MX2 race was not so good, as I didn’t had any more tear off after two laps and then I had a small crash! Finally I got a good rhythm and when I saw that I was coming back on the leader I pushed as I knew it was possible to win. But I didn’t saw so well as I had to clean my goggles with my glove, and I finished just behind the winner. In the super final I had to stop to the pits when I got a stone in my brake pedal, then I had again the same incident and I retired; the track was mainly one line, I was far and there was no possibilities to score points.”

Jacky Vimond: “Valentin was strong this weekend, as he still has pain in his ass but his courage was rewarded as he got back the red plate as leader of the MX2 series. His first heat was more difficult than the super final, where he got a good start among the 450. Dylan didn’t had a strong motivation for this race, as he doesn’t like the track, but when he realized in the opening race that he could win he rode perfectly and with one more lap I think that he would have won. He was motivated for the super final, but he had twice some problems with a stone and that was too much.”

Holeshot and first top five for Dylan

Team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki had a great moment last weekend in Italy, when Dylan Ferrandis got a holeshot in the MX2 Grand Prix and scored his best ever result with a fifth position in race one. Teammate Valentin Teillet was forced to renounce despite all his courage, one week after his heavy crash in Bulgaria.

Coming back to Italy straight after the Bulgarian round, Dylan and Valentin had a different training program; Dylan trained as usual between two races, while Valentin recovered from his crash. Both riders came to Fermo for the third round of the series, and Valentin Teillet bravely tried to race but the pain proved too great and he had to withdraw from racing in Italy after the warm-up on Sunday morning.

Ninth in the qualifying race, Dylan took his first GP holeshot in the opening race and the teenage rookie battled with the other leader board men for 40 minutes to secure fifth place at the finish, his best ever GP result to date. Later in the day he showed character to fight his way through the pack to finish 12th after being involved in a big crash at the first corner. Seventh of the GP, he is currently seventh in the standings before the South American trip in Mexico and Brazil, and will be next weekend in Plomion for the penultimate round of the French Elite series.

Dylan Ferrandis: “I was so pumped to get the holeshot in the first race ! This weekend I had a good feeling with both the bike and the track, and I pushed really hard to stay with the top riders; I was so happy to finish fifth. I’m not quite sure what happened at the start of the second race, but there was a big crash with several other riders. I didn’t lose too much time and fought back to twelfth, so it was a good weekend for me. Now I can’t wait to travel to Mexico and Brazil, we all go together with the team and it will be for me one of my first trip outside Europe.”

Valentin Teillet: “After my big crash in Bulgaria I worked with Jacky Vimond at a swimming pool all week to recover, and my condition improved enough that we took the decision to come here to Italy. I tried to race but it was too much painful; I still have a hematoma in my back and some pain on my lung. But it was important for me to try, so I have no regrets. We’ll continue to work this week, I’m sure I will be able to ride next week end the French series and for sure I will be ready for the next two GPs in South America.”

First top 7 result for Dylan Ferrandis

Team Rockstar Energy Bud Racing Kawasaki had an emotional weekend in Bulgaria, with a strong performance from Valentin Teillet in the qualifying race on Saturday and later a terrible crash during the first heat. Luckily the young hopeful recovers, and the team was able to enjoy the strong seventh position of Dylan Ferrandis.

Sevlievo is a nice and fast track, who can be dangerous for the riders especially when the weather is not stable. With sun, clouds and showers on Saturday the traction was very special, but that was not a problem for the Bud riders. Valentin got the holeshot in the qualifying race, led half of the period and then follows the rhythm of Tommy Searle to finish in second position. Qualified in tenth, Dylan Ferrandis had also a good gate for the races.

Valentin Teillet only did two laps in the opening race, as he was unfortunate enough to crash heavily when holding sixth place. He was in great pain after sustaining a hematoma in his back and suffering shock, and was of course unable to contest race two. Even before this accident his teammate was not feeling comfortable on this track, and Dylan did two consistent and safe races to score strong points in the series; eighth and tenth, he is currently eighth in the standings less than ten points from the fifth position. He is the best ‘rookie’ of the MX2 World Championship, and can expect even better as he’s regularly improving his physical condition.

Dylan Ferrandis: “I didn’t felt so comfortable on this track, and I didn’t want to take too many risked. The ground was so hard so it was a demanding weekend for me physically as I’m still not back to 100% after my injury during the winter. We’ve worked hard in Italy last week and the program will be similar this week, to prepare the next rounds of the series. I got my second top ten result in two GPs, and I’m sure I can progress even further during the summer.”

Stéphane Dassé: “It was a tough weekend for us, with this heavy crash of Valentin in the first heat. Finally it’s not as worse as we could imagine, and even if Valentin was not in great shape on Sunday evening we know that he will be soon back on his bike. He has nothing broken but a big hemathoma at the bottom of the back. We don’t know yet of he will race in Italy this week-end but for sure he will bring strong results to the team very soon as we could see on saturday. Dylan continues to improve his results, and we are very happy for him; he has not yet recovers completely from his long winter break, but he proves each weekend how strong and clever he is.”

Double GP win for Livia

One week after the 2012 opening GP in the Netherlands, Livia Lancelot got her revenge during the French Grand Prix, second round of the Women World Championship. Double winner of the event, she offers to the team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki a first success in the Motocross World Championship.

Despite a broken finger one week ago Livia was unbeatable in Castelnau de Lévis, and none of her rivals was able to race with her. The weekend was successfully rainy, windy and sunny, but that didn’t change anything for Livy who just missed the pole position on Saturday to grab her first GP win since the Czech Grand Prix in 2010. Second on the grid, she got the holeshot twice and after two laps she was leading each race by fifteen seconds! It was a perfect weekend for the French lady, who scores her seventh GP win.

Livia Lancelot:I had a great feeling all weekend long, and everything went perfect even if I had a small problem in the qualifying period. But that didn’t affect my confidence, and I was strongly motivated for this event. I was fastest at each start, and I pushed hard to secure a strong gap during the first laps; the second race was more difficult as the track was slippery with the rain, but for me it was OK. This winter I trained a lot on hard tracks with Jacky, the goal was to be faster on these tracks and I proved again this weekend that we reached my goal. Now I will be back in the French Women series, and I will start soon to train on Supercross tracks; my next goal is the X Games in California. Last year I got a podium, but I want to do better for my second attempt there.”
